12 Oktoberfest

I went to Munich for Oktoberfest last weekend! It was very güt. I travelled with Danny Brooksbrothers Lessig, and was shocked that I didnt need any ID to get from Paris to Munich. I knew I wouldn’t need a passport cause of the schengan zone, but still…
but the airport was very cool IMG_2042.jpg
Also shocking: Germany is so incredibly clean and proper. France is beautiful, but its more “holy-shit-this-place-has-existed-for-centuries, cigarette butts covering flagstone streets, hey that’s where Marie Antoinette was guillotined, my god that’s a large cathedral/castle/tourist” beautiful. Germany is closer to the US, but with a pinch of euro and dash of futuristic yet still rural thrown in. Once there, Daniel Boone Lessig went off to stay in an airBNB like a girl while I met up with my pledgebrothers Graham Steele (not pictured he had to leave early), Grant ‘bambam’ McClure, Austin ‘connor’ Newsome, Connor ‘cocro’ Crovello, and Ross ‘cruzy’ Kruse (L–>R) IMG_2068.jpg
we stayed together in a campground with the service ‘stoketravel’. Basically, this was a dystopian wilderness ruled through enforced anarchy by drunk/high Australian employees called ‘stokies’ (the woman assigned to lead us to our tent was so drunk I had to lead her there.) Stoketravel was cool, however: unlimited beer/sangria, breakfast provided, and tents/mattresspads/sleepingbags.
I also saw my good highschool friend David Marsh there several times (not pictured because I forgot to take a pic / I’m seeing him again in a couple weeks)

Saturday we got up early to go to the beerhalls. These are the festival grounds; for reference, that ferris wheel in the background is how far they extend IMG_2048.jpg
We knew which tent we wanted to go to because other davidson kids in town were already inside. I was designated in charge of getting us in because my group had poor judgement, so I spent half an hour squeezing my way through a throng of people trying to get up to the front of the line (by line, I mean mob. picture the wildebeast herd that killed mufasa in lionking), where people were throwing up the number of people in there group on a hand trying to get chosen to be let in, with my group in tow. Finally they just opened up, allowing the stamped to rush into… paradise. heaven on earth. there are no words. The pictures below don’t really convey how huge the tent was, nor the raucous live band playing classical german music, nor the fact that you could buy entire chickens to eat. We (quite luckily, this was another world) found the table of davidson kids, and had an excellent time. Since pictures speak louder than words, here are a few/lot:
