13 Dublin
I went to Dublin! It was great. Irish people are so freaking awesome. The cabbies are a lovely anachronism of nice and racist, the people adore americans (lookin at you, frenchies…), and their alcohol is splendid. If I didn’t want to get language immersion, Dublin is where I would retrospectively study abroad. Friday we went to the Guinness brewery, which was super cool.
Danny and Riley : a love story
I learned how to serve the perfect pint and got a certificate (not touristy at all) then took my pint up to the skybar with a magnificent view of Dublin and drank it. And then a few more.
Afterwards my highschool friend Michael Burcham (studying abroad in Belfast) braved the Ireland-NorthIreland border to join me for a few more pints in the Temple Bar district
Saturday, we had the best breakfast to ever break a fast
and then explored Trinity College, Dublin castle, and the town (if you’re ever in Dublin, go to Man of Aran Fudge. dangerously delicious)
We then went to the Jameson Distillery. While waiting for our tour to begin, I had the best Old Fashioned I’ve ever tasted (and tied the cherry stem with my tongue, first time in a while). When the tour started, I said to our guide “I’m assuming I need to finish this before we go in?” and he responded (think Lucky Charms voice) “of course you can bring it in, this is a distillery!”
The tour is awesome, culminating in a whiskey tasting and free drink. The bar was so cool we hung out for a few more hours
then went out for a fun last night
Great weekend on the emerald isle
When we got back Sunday evening, I snapped a few picture around Tours: the hôtel de ville and cathedrale are awesome at night
Also, Pépette is now my best friend
